Eden James, who recently collaborated with Tim Leitner - famous for his work with the legendary Billy Joel - Paul Simon's Guitarist and Bruce Springsteen's keyboard player, has teamed up with musicians from his hometown to reimagine hit single ‘Black Book’ as an EDM track.
Internationally-acclaimed rocker, Eden James, today announced the release of his rock single ‘Black Book’, which has been remixed as an EDM track, paying homage to the synth-pop sounds and styles of the 80s. ‘Black Book - Remix’, will be available to stream and download across all major digital platforms from December 4th, 2020.
Following the success of its release, Eden collaborated with production team, Horse & Monkey, to reimagine hit single ‘Black Book’ as an EDM dance track. The production duo is comprised of writer/producers John Drake and Chass Guthrie, who has toured with the likes of Bob Geldof and whose credits include billion-streamed Australian artist "Tones and I”. Both John and Chass hail from James’ hometown: Brisbane, Australia.
Eden met John in Brisbane before the both singer-songwriters coincidentally moved to London UK to expand their respective music careers. Eden and John then met Chass at an APRA songwriting meetup in London in 2009 and the trio have continued to work together on various projects over the years. ‘Black Book’ is the latest remix offering from the all-Aussie collaboration team.
Remaining true to his 1970’s rock influence, James’ lyrics for ‘Black Book’ are centred around being on the wrong side of the law and the song reflects on the irony of consequences catching up at the most inopportune moment.
“The melody for ‘Black Book’ came to me while I was on the subway”, recalled Eden. “There’s something about the rattling of train cars and the noise of passing trains that helps me think and tap into my creative plane. However, it wasn’t until I met my muse for the lyrics, some time later, that the song really took on a life of its own.”
“Like something out of a cliché movie, she was reading a book and drinking Whiskey at this bar, we got to talking and the next thing I knew I had a new song on my hands. One of the things I love about being a writer, is that you never know when or how your next song will introduce itself.”
Eden James is an international recording artist, winning multiple music awards from his native home of Australia, and achieving a number one hit in Greece. Classic Rock magazine UK recently nominated two of his songs for ‘Track of the Week’ in these favorable reviews: “Sunkissed, Iggy-esque, upbeat soul", and on another edition: “Gorgeously sunny indie-come-americana. A hidden gem.”
