Marco Palos Is Set To Rise And Shine On World Sleep Day With Debut Single ‘A Place We Don’t Know’

Updated: Jun 15

Singer-songwriter Marco Palos journeys beyond his swing/jazz roots to release his debut indie alt/rock single, ‘A Place We Don’t Know’, on World Sleep Day after being inspired by a midsummer night’s dream.

Marco Palos has announced the release of his debut single A Place We Don’t Know, which will be available to download and stream across all mainstream digital platforms starting on March 19th, 2021, World Sleep Day.

Marco Palos – famed for fronting the 9-piece “little-big band” Phat Cat Swinger, which frequently performs for Disney – is launching his solo career with self-penned single A Place We Don’t Know. The track, which has been heavily influenced by the likes of Coldplay, The Beatles, and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), comes ahead of Marco’s debut album (due Summer 2021).

A Place We Don’t Know is inspired by a dream Marco had last summer, in which he stepped into an alternate universe. He awoke with a sense of freedom to embark on a musical journey separate from the path that has brought him recognition to date and a desire to capture the essence of this alternate reality.

That evening, I sat at the piano and let my hands wander until they landed on four chords that gave me a hauntingly sweet feeling inside and relaxed me so much that, when I closed my eyes, I felt as if I’d had a vision of an alternate life, an alternate reality,” explained Marco.

But it was probably just a dream, right? That’s why I wanted to release ‘A Place We Don’t Know’ on World Sleep Day. I’m fascinated by the limitless abilities of the human mind. We can create entire universes and life experiences all without going anywhere,” Palos continued. “’A Place We Don’t Know’ captures the essence of the hope and mystery that have carried me through this bizarre time during lockdown.

Inspired to explore his sound beyond the jazz genre, Marco’s latest single ventures into the realms of indie alt/rock. While the swinging Phat Cat maintains that jazz is the foundation on which he stands, Palos has embarked on an entirely new chapter with ‘A Place We Don’t Know’.

Written and Produced by Marco and recorded remotely during lockdown, the new track was engineered by Ryland Talamo and Tom Brooks, Musical Director for The Allan Parsons Project. The single also features an illustrious string arrangement by Classical Guitarist, Tyler Vrooman and players from Gemini Strings, who are best known for having supported performances by Black Eyed Peas, Lindsey Stirling, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Pentatonix, X Ambassadors, Bastille, Halsey, CeeLo Green, Iggy Azalea, Deadmau5, Nas, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire and many more.
