Having garnered global media attention for his previous releases, Kent-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Will Newman – whose debut album charted top 40 on iTunes – has announced the release of new single “Meditations On You And Me”, a musical reflection on the emotional rollercoaster of lockdown.
Globally-acknowledged rising star, Will Newman, has today announced the release of his brand-new, remotely-recorded single Meditations On You And Me, which will be available to download and stream across all mainstream digital platforms from 20th November 2020.
The Kent-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose debut album Sand charted the top 40 on iTunes, has returned having composed indie synthpop track, Meditations On You And Me, which reflects on his journey into meditation in response to the emotional rollercoaster of restrictions and lockdown in the UK due to COVID-19.
The single is set to be released amidst a second national lockdown with the hope that his listeners will resonate with the musical expression of the lows and highs of an uncertain and unprecedented time.
“I took up meditation as a healthy way to acknowledge and manage my emotions during this tumultuous time,” commented Will. “Meditations On You And Me pays homage to my meditation practice and the frantic times in my life when I invariably stray from it.”
Newman continued, “The track emphasises reflective, mellow phases punctuated by chaos and soundscapes which emulate my switch from conscientiousness to impulsivity. From engaging with my followers, and speaking to members of my inner circle, I understand that many people are battling with rollercoaster emotions during this time, flitting between a sense of acceptance and dissonance. As a result, I feel that my audience will relate strongly to the themes in this release.”
The track is heavily influenced by artists such as Minus The Bear, Turnover and LANY, with a lean towards some of Will’s earlier grunge influences like Nirvana. Newman’s eclectic influences are evident in his original tracks, and yet his sound remains distinct. With global press coverage, Will’s reputation precedes him as an up-and-coming DIY artist, and he is currently working with his team to secure licensing and sync deals.
